FAQ

  • Massage therapy is the manipulation of soft tissues of the body including muscles, connective tissue, and joints. Massage therapy is a clinically-oriented healthcare option that helps alleviate the discomfort associated with every day occupational stresses, muscular over-use and many chronic pain conditions.

  • Massage therapy treatments begin with an assessment, where the therapist discusses your goals of treatment and any preferences you may have with you. They may perform tests and will discuss your concerns with you.

The therapist will then devise a treatment plan, explain/discuss it with you. They will ask if you have any questions, and there are no wrong questions, so please ask!

After you’ve decided what your treatment will be, the therapist will leave the room to allow you some privacy as you get onto the massage table.

The therapist will knock before re-entering the room.

  • Your comfort is the most important thing.

Most often, massage therapy is performed skin to skin, however it can be done over clothing/linens.

RMTs use the draping of linens in our practice. It provides comfort and a physical barrier. The area being treated will be the only area uncovered at any time.

In terms of undergarments, you can wear them or not, it is completely up to you. Feel free to discuss with your therapist if you have any questions.

  • Of course you can. It’s YOUR treatment. If at any time there is something you don’t like/feel comfortable with please let your therapist know immediately. The treatment is yours to adjust how you would like and communication is key to making that happen.

  • We endeavour at Airmed MT to make the space as scent neutral as we can.

All of our treatment rooms have separate ventilation and in-room air purifiers. Our linens are all laundered in unscented laundry detergent and we use unscented soap to wash our hands.

One of our treatment rooms is fully scent-free (no essential oils, or medicinal ointments).

If you do have a sensitivity, letting us know in advance is always helpful.

As always, if there is anything specific you’d like to discuss we are happy to help.
