Epsom Salts

Epsom Salts (aka Magnesium sulphate) is very beneficial after a massage therapy treatment. Magnesium can help to soothe your muscles, reduce muscle cramps and aid in continuing the relaxation post treatment.

Bath

At Airmed Massage Therapy, we recommend a minimum of 15 minute hot bath with the epsom salts provided after your treatment. We provide you with 2 cups of salts as that is the desired amount to put in each bath. Sip on cool water while you sit and relax in the warm tub. Feel free to rinse off afterwards if you feel like it, and head to bed.

Salt Scrub

If you are not a bath person, adding a carrier oil such as coconut oil, jojoba oil, olive oil or almond oil to the salts can create a fantastic salt scrub to help exfoliate. We recommend adding the oil slowly to the salts so that you create the right consistency for a scrub.

Mix the oil slowly with the salts to create the texture of wet sand. You can add a few drops of essential oils to the scrub to add to its effect.

Apply the scrub in the shower (or bathtub) to any part of your body you wish to exfoliate. Areas of your body that might have more callous or rougher skin (think feet, hands, elbows) will benefit from an application of this salt scrub. Please steer clear of any sensitive areas, cuts or open skin and any existing skin conditions with the salt scrub, as it could aggravate.
